It's official. It's over. Michael has just left and it never ceases to amaze me how everything that has been our lives for the past few weeks can be packed up into half a van. The campus has reverted back to what it looked like before the signs and posters and colours and life were added to it, and it is easy to imagine that all the fun, excitement, laughter and learning that has occurred here in the past three weeks never happened. We know it did though. Those of us here, know what an incredible three weeks this has been; how far some of our students have come. What friendships have been forged and what plans have been made.
Thank you students for being such bright young things. I always say that working with young poeple keeps you youthful. Their energy and aspirations are a huge propelling force for us all. Thank you teachers for you ceaseless imagination and drive to do what you do so very very well. Thank you activity leaders for bringing such creativity and inspiration to the campus. Thank you my team; you are incredible and I have loved every second working with you. Thank you everyone at Winchester Enterprises and at the college for your patience and support. Most of all though, thank you Discovery Summer; every year you manage to bring so many people together and create something that touches us all.
Have a wonderful summer everyone and please stay in touch through the Winchester 2012 Discovery Summer facebook page. I will keep you updated with all the information I get from our sponsored child so follow us there.
See you next summer!

Practical Science Week 2- Kite making
In week 2 of Practical Science at Winchester, students developed kites with the aim of making them fly in a stable manner. Students were taught the basic construction techniques using bamboo, duct tape, and string and then allowed to experiment with their design and progress by trial and error.
Nataliya Kobakova wrote a beautiful poem about Discovery Winchester.
Here it is...
For tonight we're standing on the stage
And hope that you've enjoyed the play
Our lives as a book we turn the page
You'll never be able to come back again
We've learnt to use computers and always be on time
We've studied theatre and made our fashion shows
Exploring British queing for a while
We've danced, we mimed, we sang and gave it a go
We registered A LOT and did experiements with kites
Holding a camera we've made all sorts of films
Philosophers we looked for the meaning of our lives
Artists kept on paper what they saw in their dreams
But the most important thing that we will take from this place
Is friendship that never ends
Is memories that are never forgotten
Is love that keeps your heart beating

The Final Goodbye
As the final week of Winchester 2012 came to an end, many tears were shed. However, DJ Sammy managed to lighten the mood and we went out with a bang at the last disco of the year!
We have all had a great three weeks and we hope you have too! See you all next year!

Photography lighting workshop
This weeks lighting workshop in the College theatre had fantastic results thanks to the creativety of the students involved who decided to create London Olympic 2012 themed images. We carefully constructed the compositions and attempted to shoots the image a few times in order for everyone to get their positioning and light painting spot on.
