A Wonderful Summer

Farewell from Winchester 2017 Another wonderful summer of Discovery Summer Winchester drew to a close today, with our Week 3 students departing. The whole experience has been truly unforgettable, and it will be hard to leave behind some of the many new international friendships which have been formed here. Whether it has been during the Academic programme, the afternoon and evening activities, or on excursion, new memories have been created which will prove incredibly formative for all who were present at Winchester this summer. Our Course Director Francesco spoke to all our students yesterday: "You don’t need to be super intelligent, you don’t need to a genius..You only need to be creative, to use your passions...Your passions, and your dreams will make you unique, will mark the difference between you and other people. And with these passions, and these dreams, you will transform the world."

Coming Together for Charity

Winchester Gives Back For nearly a decade, Discovery Summer has been working in conjunction with Action Aid to support the Kola Tree Community Schools Project in Sierra Leone. So far, we have funded the construction of the Community Primary School and Junior High School in Freetown, and as a result more than 600 children now have access to education in their community. These projects rely on fundraising from our various summer courses. One vital aspect of this is the Charity Day we host at Winchester every summer. On Friday our campus was transformed into a traditional British summer fair, complete with a raffle, coconut shy and cake decorating stall. Our diverse student body took the opportunity to showcase activities and games from around the world, incorporating less traditional stalls such as a beautiful origami station and a very popular henna stand. This was followed by a charity auction where prizes included the rights to 'shave or save' an Activity Lead...

In England, during the reign of Queen Victoria, a little girl from the aristocracy was killed. She was found in the forest near London. Her body was covered with blood. Lord Mepheistos decided to investigate with his friends Lady Theodora and Lord Peter. -Poor little girl, said Theodora when she saw the corpse. -She was Lady Alicia, her family was that of the Count's, said Mepheistos. -The Count?
