Our amazing students!

We are ten days into our programme here at Winchester. This is, without doubt, one of the most outstanding groups of young people that we have ever had here. We all feel it. Their language levels, ideas, enthusiasm, thirst to learn, friendliness and maturity are unprecedented. I have just completed some lesson observations and I am, as always, extremely impressed. In web design, the instructions, which had my non-tech brain whirling, were absorbed quickly and calmly by the students who then launched into clicking, linking, connecting and cropping. In Exam Skills, the students were working in groups to decipher Proficiency level texts and their teacher was enlightening them in the way to do this and be sure of finding the right answer. Our musicians were working together in what I thought was rehearsed synchronicity, but was actually improvisation and the campus is abuzz with activity, learning and laughter.

Due to popular demand from the students, we have adapted our afternoon activities for this group and have added in items like public speaking club, book club and photography workshop. Additionally, for every excursion, we hold related activities the day before so that prior to visiting Hampton Court, the students were engaged in jousting, real tennis, Tudor football, court dancing and parlour games. This afternoon everyone is off to the Hawk Conservancy Centre where they will see birds of prey in action; something that I am rather jealous of but will have to live it through their pictures!

Please do keep an eye on our blog as both teachers and activity leaders are doing a fantastic job keeping the blog updated so watch this space for more fun and learning!
