Our Trip to London
Saturday was excursion and we all woke up early to get to London by mid-morning. It was a very sunny day and, being a weekend in summer, London was very busy. First on the agenda was a walking tour taking in some of London's most recognisable landmarks.
The Houses of Parliament:
The London Eye:
We then went past Downing Street, home to the Prime Minister, through St James' Park and up to The Mall. The Mall is the road which leads up to Buckingham Palace:
After lunch in St James' Park we then walked to Trafalgar Square, famous for Nelson's Column, an elevated statue of a 19th century English admiral:
One group then went to the National Gallery while another went to the National Portrait Gallery. The galleries contain some of the world's most famous artwork:
After soaking up some culture we went on to Covent Garden, a vibrant and busy part of London famed for its street performers and shops:
We managed to dodge the rain thankfully and then headed back to Winchester for the weekly barbecue!
