This week in the Music Minor course we have looked at covering music from famous artists, such as Nirvana 'Smells like teen spirit' which was covered by Tori Amos, The Flying Picket and Paul Anka. We also disscussed the copyright issues affecting music, including the courtcase between George Harrison and The Chiffons.
On Wednesday we worked on making our own cover song of 'Yesterday' by The Beatles, which we wanted to be different from the original. Using Garageband we layered each instrument until we had a complete song, we then used effects to change the sound and create our unique take on the song. We changed the pitch of Alex's voice to make him sound like a chipmunk, and changed the guitar into a 'Dream pop chorus' style, which fitted better with the voice.
