Photography Class - Days 2-4

Day 2 & 3

Digital Photography days two and three were dedicated to a technical clinic on aperture. We have looked at apertures using a Bronica camera that you can take apart. The lens clearly demonstrates the effects of changing apertures therefore everyone has grasped the idea and is able to start to think about using apertures creatively. We looked at the effects on different aperture settings, paying particular attention to depth of field. We took various photographs to explore the difference between shallow depth of field and large depth of field. We wrapped up the session with portrait photographs using both shallow and large depth of field. Everyone agreed shallow DofF is better for portrait photography.

Day 4

Today we have dedicated the lesson to understanding shutter speeds. We have worked in the QE2. We have experimented with long exposures and created some fantastic results. Using tourches we have painted with light to make ghostly effects around the theatre. A fun lesson where a lot has been learnt!
