Technical
lesson on Aperture
In this lesson we thought about the different effects
created by controlling Aperture. Working in Manual mode we looked at the
extremes available. By using a large aperture of F4.0 we were able to create
images with a very shallow depth of field, therefore allowing only part of the
image to appear sharp while the rest of the image is out of focus. This
technique is really useful for portraiture and close ups. We also looked at the
other extreme, using a small aperture of F29. By using this setting we created
images where all the elements were in focus, from foreground to background.
This setting is especially good for landscape photography. By studying both
extremes we understood the difference and that there are many increments in
between to explore.
